Join a Sarasota County environmental specialist for a guided walk at South Venice Lemon Bay Preserve in recognition of National Jay Day and National Gopher Tortoise Day.
Participants will learn about threatened, endemic and keystone species, including the Florida scrub jay and the gopher tortoise. The walk will highlight the unique scrub habitat and provide information about how Sarasota County manages its natural area preserves to protect these ecosystems.
Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and drinking water. Be prepared to walk in soft sand and areas with limited shade. Pets are not permitted in the preserve.
